Howdy folks! Today was the last day of the road trip. Can you believe it!? I mean Friday I was in Birmingham working a full day at work and now on Tuesday I am in Browning, MT kickin it with the Indians of the Blackfeet Tribe. I just can’t wrap my mind around it!
Well to sum up today, LONG. We just couldn’t get our act together. We had planned to be ready and gone from the hotel by 9:30. Ha, yea we didn’t do that. Then we had to go to Wells Fargo to deposit some checks into Brittny’s account. Then coffee was a must. Linds and I got coffee from this great place in downtown Bozeman. Best cup this trip by far…yummm I just love coffee :)
So after our few errands in Bozeman we headed towards Helena to do our other errands. We had to make a stop at Walgreens, Walmart, a gas station, and grab lunch. At one point I remember saying man there is no way we will make it to Browning by 3pm (which was our plan). Good thing Brittny called the hospital because they were so chill and told us to just take our time and just make it before 7pm. That was totally doable!
After running all of our errands and whatnot, we rolled out of Helena around 2pm. From Helena it was a 2-ish hour drive to Browning. It was an absolute beautiful drive, but there was barely any civilization. I mean yes it is pretty, but who could live way out in the middle of nowhere like that. Not me, that is for sure. The roads however were pretty windy and had lots of rolling hills. Then at one point it rained real hard. Needless to say, this made for an exhausting drive for me who drove the whole day. Oh but we did make a photo stop in Choteau, MT...
We finally arrived in Browning a little after 4pm. Our first stop was the hospital to say hello and to get the keys to the trailer. The trailer is this blue double wide about 1/3 of a mile from the hospital. My first impression was, hey not as bad as I thought. Brittny however thought opposite and turned into Mr. Clean. Even though Linds and I weren’t horrified at the trailer’s state, we turned into “Mr. Clean’s” helpers. So far our rooms, bathrooms, and the main hallway are spic and span. Also the fridge and counters have been deep cleaned. Tomorrow our goal it to sweep and mop the kitchen.
In the midst of our cleaning frenzy, we decided to head out and explore for a cleaning break. Harold (our preceptor) recommended we venture the 12 miles west to East Glacier, which the entrance to the east side of Glacier Park. Since it is October most places have closed down for the season except for the Two Medicine Grill. With all of the choices (sarcasm), we decided to eat here. I had a buffalo cheeseburger and shared some onion rings. It was pretty good and especially since Brit and Linds picked up the tab to pre-celebrate my birthday. Who can complain about free food!?!
During dinner we made friends with Bill and Phil, two workers at the recently seasonally closed East Glacier Lodge. They were real friendly and chatted with us. Linds even asked if they would let us into the lodge to check it out. They seemed game, but Brit and I decided that wasn’t the wisest decision especially since the Linds asked in a creepy awkward way, “Hey can you let us see your lodge?” and they were two guys we did not know and there are no people around. Yea, we didn’t do that haha! Instead we headed back to the trailer to clean and enjoy a glass of wine (complements of Walgreens and my discount ha!)
So there you have it, another good day in the life of Katy. Tomorrow should be fun for two reasons…first day at the hospital and it is my birthday…second being the most important, duh! :) Just kidding. Well peace out homeslices!!
