Truckin'

October 2nd
Today was an early early day.  We got up around 5am so we could go drive and meet up with Lindsay’s brother who lives in Fort Worth.  He is a gem to let us borrow his truck for the month.  It is an awesome Ford F 150 that we can spread out in and still have all of our junk.

So after switching cars and moving luggage around, we headed out of Dallas around 7am. Linds took the first shift and drove us all the way to Dumas, TX where we ate Sonic on a picnic table and soaked up some Texas sun.  It was actually pretty warm and felt amazing!

I took the second shift driving.  Fortunate for me it was a two laned road with lots of slow cars in front of me.  Patience building ha!  After a bit on the two laned road, we realized the GPS had taken us off of our planned route because mileage wise it was shorter to go back roads/highways instead of the interstate.  However, this ended up being a great change of plans.  Why?  Well because we ended up going through the northern tip of New Mexico.

New Mexico was gorgeous and full of fun and picaresque places to stop.  We stopped in Clayton, NM to get a few pictures with some dinosaurs.  Then made another stop along the highway to get a picture of the plateaus and basins in the background.  Then right before we got on the interstate we made a new friend selling chili peppers on the side of the road.  So duh, we got a picture with him too.

After our New Mexico stops, we rolled on into Colorado where we got a picture with the welcome sign, “Welcome to Colorful Colorado,” and then at a scenic outlook.  Man the Lord has created one beautiful planet.  It is just so beautiful to drive through these different places and see His creation.  Everyone should take a road trip like this one day!!

Around 8pm(Denver time), we finally pulled into Denver.  This is a little earlier than originally thought so my friend Katelyn who I had met while in London wasn’t home for us to come over.  She is being super hospitable by opening her home to us.  I just love how I met this girl one day wandering through parks in London (and got locked in one) and now we are reconnecting in her home town.  What a fun story!
So at this moment we are hanging at an awesome coffee shop called Stellas.  It is such a fun environment. I just wish it wasn’t later at night so I could get a cup of coffee without staying up all night.  Oh well.  It has internet and that is all that we really wanted J

Well gotta go.  We are mapping out tomorrow’s route!! Harold our preceptor made some suggestions that would take us a different way, but be pretty.  We will see what will happen!
